The Jesus and Mary Chain: "And the raindrops beat out of time to our refrain"
He fet un cd recopilatori de The Jesus and Mary Chain, el grup (junt amb Kitsch) que em diu més coses importants i més m'agrada com me les diu. Per a qui no els conegui, són un grup escocès de rock format pels germans Jim i William Reid, que va estar actiu entre el 1984 i el 1999, i que, atenció, s'han reunit enguany i estan confirmats per al Summercase festival (Barcelona-Madrid, juliol 2007)!!
Al cd hi he posat: Don't Ever Change, Black, Head On, Save Me, Never Understood, Between Planets, Taste Of Cindy, Psycho Candy, Happy When It Rains, Sidewalking, Man On The Moon, Coast To Coast, Here Comes Alice, Cut Dead, April Skies, Everything's Alright When You're Down, Birthday, Sowing Seeds, Till It Shines, Nine Million Rainy Days, The Hardest Walk i Something's Wrong.
En les vint primeres no he dubtat. En lloc de les dues darreres n'hi podria haver posat algunes altres, com l'emblemàtica Never Understand; el mític primer senzill, Upside Down; la impressionant You've Been A Friend; Dream Lover (la que diu "what do you want if you don't want love?"); altres com Degenerate, Dirty Water, Down On Me, Darklands, About You ("I can see / that you and me / live our lives in the pouring rain / and the raindrops beat out of time to our refrain"), Girlfriend, o fins i tot Feeling Lucky, la cançó que només diu: em sento afortunat perquè hi ha algú que em coneix, i tanmateix vol abraçar-me.
Podria explicar el que em suggereix cada cançó i no acabaríem. Penses que estimes algú? Dubtes? Aquestes coses es saben, però bé, jo penso que si estimes algú li has de poder mirar als ulls i pensar, sense necessitat de dir-li-ho (millor i tot si no li dius res): "Don't ever change". Pots pensar-ho en català si aquesta és la teva llengua materna. Davant tu mateix no has de justificar ni explicar res. Si ho penses sincerament, si et surt sol, si no hi ha res a matisar, cap esperança de que en el fons algun dia la persona canviï i s'amotlli a no sé què, aleshores ho sabràs del cert.
The Jesus and Mary Chain representen el desig de no assentar el cap ni renunciar mai a la intensitat, la llibertat i el que et surt de dins. Més que amb cap altre grup les seves cançons són fetes per escoltar al cotxe mentre llisques per carreteres noves, desconegudes, cap a horitzons inesperats. Sota els cels d'abril, "hand in hand in a violent life / making love on the edge of a knife". Doncs això. Ja saps (About You) que vivim sota una pluja intensa, i les gotes piquen a un ritme diferent del de la nostra tornada; però tu i jo guanyarem, ja ho veuràs. Vine, eixuga't els ulls i abans que surti el sol escolta una altra cançó.
